Day 2: Antananarivo – Andasibe

After a relaxing morning, meet your professional guide and driver and set off on a 5-hour journey to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Spend three nights at either Andasibe Hotel or Vakona Forest Lodge on a half-board basis. Begin with an introductory walk in the rainforest.

Days 3-4: Analamazaotra National Park

Explore Andasibe during the enchanting dawn chorus. After lunch at the lodge, enjoy an afternoon walk and a night stroll. Night excursions can take place in either VOIMMA’s protected rainforest or the Mitsinjo Association reserve, with funds supporting local conservation efforts.

Day 5: Andasibe – Manambato – Ankanin’ny Nofy

Today, drive to Manambato, crossing the historic suspension bridge of Brickaville. Manambato, on the Pangalanes Canal, is a charming village frequented by locals for short beach getaways. Embark on a one-hour boat ride to Ankanin’ny Nofy (meaning “Nest of Dreams”). The canal-side villages, often disconnected from the main island by road, offer a quaint and remote atmosphere. Dinner and overnight at Palmarium Hotel, where bungalows nestle atop a tropical hill.

Day 6: Ankanin’ny Nofy

Explore the surroundings of Lake Ampitabe, including the option to visit the Palmarium Private Reserve by day or night. Home to a dozen lemur species and exotic plants, this reserve offers a unique nature experience. Enjoy an afternoon of leisure, with activities such as:

  • A boat trip to a Betsimisaraka village, including a local school and nursery.
  • Walks along the Pangalanes Canal to observe the Nepenthes madagascariensis, an endemic carnivorous plant.
  • Relaxing on the pristine beaches of the Indian Ocean coast.

Day 7: Ankanin’ny Nofy – Toamasina – Mahambo

After breakfast, boat along the Pangalanes Canal to Toamasina. Toamasina (formerly Tamatave), Madagascar’s main port city, features extensive beaches, rivers, and diverse flora and fauna. Following lunch, continue your journey by road along the coast to Mahambo, a village known for surfing and its relaxed charm. Accommodation and dinner by the ocean at La Pirogue.

Day 8: Mahambo – Sainte Marie

After breakfast, board a ferry to Sainte Marie (Nosy Boraha), a perfect snorkeling destination known for shallow waters and secluded bays. Highlights include Atafana and La Crique, where coral reefs and shipwrecks offer a magical underwater landscape. For divers, black coral reefs and granite-bouldered seabeds provide encounters with groupers, sharks, and barracudas. Dinner and overnight at Princess Bora Lodge & Spa.

Days 9-11: Sainte Marie

Spend these days discovering Sainte Marie’s natural beauty, with its primary forests, rare flora, waterfalls, and humpback whale sightings from June to September. Visit Madagascar’s oldest church (1859) and a natural swimming pool with a coral reef that resembles an aquarium. In the south, explore “les îlots aux sables” (sandy islets) and “îlots aux nattes,” a pristine area with a lagoon, emerald waters, and stunning beaches. Dinner and overnight at Princess Bora Lodge.
